IC Card (Integrated Circuit Card)
Is also known in some countries and regions as a smart card, intelligent card, microcircuit card, or microchip card. It embeds a microelectronic chip into a card base that conforms to ISO 7816 standards, creating a card format. Therefore, contactless IC cards are also called RFID cards or electronic tags.
An IC card refers to an integrated circuit card, and a commonly used transit card is a type of IC card. IC cards are also used in access control management, identity verification, and electronic wallets. Unlike magnetic stripe cards, IC cards are immune to demagnetization, making the idea of IC cards getting demagnetized a misconception.
In simple terms, the working principle of an IC card involves the card reader emitting an electromagnetic wave that changes based on the information. The internal induction coil of the card converts this electromagnetic wave into an induced current, which is used to transmit information and power the chip.
